The best coffee spots in Chicago

seriously (2026)

If you like cappuccinos, just go anywhere with an espresso machine..okay

lucky cat

Located on 2806 N Clark St, this Lakeview gem will not disappoint you. Grab your coffee to go (because it’s packed), and head over to the Barns and Nobles which is a 3 minute walk. There you can sip and read The Economist for free! You can also go enter a trance-like state at TJ. Maxx if that’s the vibe you are going for. Something along the lines of nostalgia and missing your mother.

Order: Miso Latte (sweet) or the good ol’ matcha

    heyday eatery

Located in West Town (Division & Ashland), this Ukrainian-operated institution has what you’re looking for. The back sesame is good if you are into that, but the strawberry matcha thingy is where it’s at. I just refuse to mention anyone with store-bought syrups. If you are going to charge me 7 dollars for a cup of diabetes inducing coffee, it better be made in house.

    for my cappuccino lovers:

    Mama Hoosier’s Pie Company

Okay, I’m being biased here. Personally, the vibes here are so comforting. It’s like a little time machine to 1950’s and also an aeroplane to the deep American south. Get a cappuccino and sit. All the ones I mentioned before are too busy and small for that anyway. This place is cozy and warm, with a patio in the back perfect for the summer months. I wouldn’t get anything flavoured here though. Cappuccino or black.

    Diss: Le Fournette

I like it, I mean who doesn’t like le France. They use bioengineered food ingredients which is crazy for “french people” and for bread, like it’s not that hard….water, yeast, flour….
